Third Millennium Awakening (TMA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded by Hard Light Director, Mark Griffin. While traveling in India, Mark and Sangha members witnessed the terrible hunger, poverty, and disease in the countryside. Upon returning to the states, Mark spearheaded the formation of TMA to provide basic educational, medical, and agricultural support to impoverished regions of the world. TMA targeted the native tribal groups in and around Ganeshpuri, India for its first projects.

One of the major needs of the people living in villages around Ganeshpuri is pure water. They currently obtain water from contaminated wells and the river. Because of this lack of pure water along with improper hygiene, waterborne diseases run rampart throughout the countryside. Diarrhea is the number two killer of children in India (after respiratory diseases).
TMA has developed a flourishing water purification project in the area around Ganeshpuri. Biosand water filters are manufactured locally and distributed to families who want them. These filters cost little to make, are easy to use, and are extremely effective at screening out water impurities. TMA also provides education on the importance of pure water, proper hygiene, and safe water storage.
