All spiritual paths have a similar goal, whether referred to as Self Discovery, Nirvana, or Knowing the Self. The common thread is the seeking of greater knowledge of one's Self. An important aspect of any and all paths is the practice of meditation. It is through this practice of going within that genuine inroads towards the unfoldment of Knowledge are generated.
Hard Light regularly hosts a variety of activities dedicated to the ceaseless search of uncovering the nature of the Self. Below is a description of the activities conducted by the Hard Light Center.
Weeky Classes
Mark Griffin teaches a mystical approach to meditation, accenting direct experience and personal practice. This kind of meditation is traditionally referred to as the "fast path" to Self Realization. Under his direction, Mark establishes an atmosphere wherein individuals quickly obtain the experience of meditative states, and are taught to incorporate these states into their daily lives. Mark's classes are rich in experience and potential for learning.
The program involves close contact with the teacher during weekly meetings. This is an accelerated program that is very useful for beginners as well as for those with past meditation experience.
Attending these meetings generates a transformative effect. In the context of the class, the cumulative experience of meditation and focused intent of the study is surprisingly powerful. The time given to an in-depth study of the very complex subject of meditation will invariably change the way you view your life.
The Intensive
The Intensive offers a spiritual opportunity that is both rare and unique. The Intensive is a full day program designed to expose participants, through a series of meditations, to the powerful energies of Samadhi, Kundalini, and Shaktipat.
Samadhi-Sanskrit for complete absorption or identification with the Self; meditative union with the Absolute; a condition of being where the mind is said to be stopped.
Kundalini-Sanskrit for the cosmic energy that lies coiled at the base of the spine of every individual; universal power of transformation.
Shaktipat-Sanskrit for spiritual awakening; the awakening of the Kundalini.
During the Intensive, an individual is placed on the path of awakening through a series of spiritual maneuvers and through the intent of the Guru. This process takes place internally, not externally. The Intensive is the process of looking within and of awakening to the depths of our being.
This way of awakening people, this transmission of vibration, is ancient and unfailing. Once planted within your system it can do only one thing—awaken.
The Retreat
Retreats at Hard Light are concentrated three to five day sessions held in remote locations in which one can more fully immerse one's self in the internal practices without the distractions of daily life.
The spirit of retreat is an ancient and sacred energy. Upon beginning the retreat you become aligned with a very profound force that is dedicated to the revelation of Truth and Reality. In retreat we essentially seek to strip ourselves of surface conditioning and make a genuine effort to unearth and reveal our essential and profound inner nature, and to become familiar with its deeper aspects.
It is very important that modern day aspirants engage in the methodologies and practices of ancient times. This provides an opportunity to come into contact with the very heart of spiritual development as it has arisen and existed throughout the ages. No matter how modern we become, we are subject to the ancient rhythms and methods involved with the seeking of Truth.
The demands of Retreat, no matter when they are encountered, are clear and decisive. To put it simply, you give your all at one moment, at one time, in one place. For a brief time, you dedicate your life to seeking the revelation of the Self.
Satsang
Translated from Sanskrit, satsang means "in communion with truth." Satsang is a conversation in which the participants communicate on many levels about the nature of Self. The purpose of Satsang is none other than to invite people to experience for a short while an environment that is rich and deep, and filled with the kinetic energy and quality of awareness that occurs in the space of a Meditation Master.
