The awakening process is like a bird which needs both wings to fly straight and true.
The first wing is the grace of the guru, shaktipat, the transmission of the seed of awakening. Once shaktipat occurs it is like an event in nature; it can’t be stopped. It is a moment of incredible potential.
But it is the other wing, a form of intent that arises from belief that determines how this seed develops. Through belief, the individual actively attends to and cultivates this seed bringing it to its best possible fulfillment. The person’s intent is seen in their cooperation with the awakening process, and their recognition of the transformation taking place within themselves.
If through a lack of attention, lack of interest, or lack of belief, a person ignores the experience and never gives it a second thought, the seed will still mature but the process will move much more slowly.
