The primary measure of your character is the ability to do what you set out to do. If you can carry a decision, however difficult, through to its completion, whatever else people may think of you, they will admire your character because you do what you set out to do. The same thing occurs in spiritual dynamics. When you demonstrate a dodgy approach to life’s challenges, when you abandon the field with the first sign of difficulty, you will get nothing done because difficulty is a part of life.
One of the signs of being experienced in life is that whatever the world and your fate bring you, you face the difficulties of life with aplomb and creativity. As the more experienced human beings know, it is not the goal but the journey that matters. The concept of victory and defeat is but a shadow play.
